About Me

I am a therapist who has had over twelve years experience working with men, women, and teens with eating disorders of all types. I graduated from Wayne State University in 1995 with a Master's in Social Work. I was employed full-time with Henry Ford Behavioral Health for nine years, working as a group and individual therapist. I have had extensive experience working with people who have chemical dependency, depression, anxiety, and people in crisis through my education and employment history.

In 2003, I moved into private practice in Royal Oak and have continued working primarily with people struggling to overcome eating disorders. I developed the program Healing Your Relationship With Food as I began to realize how isolating the disorder of compulsive overeating is for patients.

I have been in my own recovery for the past 16 years and wanted to create a foundation of recovery where people could help each other and have the guidance of a therapist who practices what she preaches. This endeavor has resulted in positive change for many people who have gone through the program and encourages me to continue providing the service to others.

My style of working with people has been said to be warm, focused, fun, and effective. I tend to use a lot of humor as the issues being addressed are difficult and intense. People have called me the "kick-butt" therapist and refer friends and family members who have a strong willingness to get to the root of the problem and recover. I love my work.
